Kentucky Cancer Program and award-winning photographer Jeanie Adams-Smith present Faces of Cancer, a photographic tribute to cancer survivors in the Barren River area. The public is invited to a reception and exhibit, September 10, 5-7 p.m. at the Capitol Arts Gallery, 416 E. Main, Bowling Green. MS Walk Volunteers and Walkers needed

The Ms walk that is comming to BG at Preston Miller Water park is in need for volunteers and walkers. This will be at no cost to you. We are trying to form several teams to walk in groups and I have the full backing of The Kentucky/Indiana Chapter of MS in Lousiville to form teams. They are looking for walkers to find sponsors however I have several sponsors that need walkers so nothing is being asked from you. If you are interested in walking for a good cause and enjoy a day of free fun, please let me know. We are also working on doing a car show if you would be intersted in putting in a car please email me or contact me and I will be glad to give you all the information. THANKS

Ice Cream Supper 2010

The Midway Community (Clare Rd. Franklin, Ky) Annual Ice Cream Supper and Cake Walk will be Saturday September 11, 2010. Most activities will begin around 6:00 PM. Food will start being served around 5:30PM.

Some of the activities are:

· Cake walk
· Kid’s games
· Half-n-Half Money pot (Will be selling chances throughout the night)
· Raffles (Will be selling chances throughout the night)
· Door prizes every 30 minutes for adults and kids
· Ice cream
· Plate dinners (favorite sandwich, chips, drink and dessert)

Voice of the Patriots" September 11th Remembrance and Appreciation Community Event will take place Saturday, September 11 in the ten acre concert field of Crossroads Church. Located next to the Logan Memorial Park at the intersection of 68/80 bypass and Lewisburg Road. This free event is our community's opportunity to remember and honor those who lost the lives in the tragic attack on the World Trade Center. It is also a time when as a community can show our appreciation to all those paid and voluntary personnel of the first responders agencies such as local and rural fire departments, police departments, sheriff's department, state troopers, ambulance responders, drug taskforce, Air Vac EMS, Logan dispatchers, military branches, chaplains and local pastors. Official vehicles of the various agencies will be on display for all to see including the Air Vac helicopter. 4:00 pm Inflatable bounce houses for children with hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and other refreshments. Live music will begin at 7:00 pm including patriotic songs and then the 45 minute service will begin at 7:30 with Chaplain Mike Humble. All personnel from all the town, city and county response agencies will be recognized and shown appreciation. Live music will continue after the service until 9:00pm. Everyone is invited and welcome!

South Central Ky Marching Band Classic

The South Central Kentucky Marching Band Clssic will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Glasgow High School. The Barren County Trojan Marching Band will march in competition. Opening Ceremonies are at 5:45 pm, with the Glasgow Scotties in exhibition at 8:30 pm. The Campbellsville University Marching Band will perform in special exhibition at 8:45 pm. Awards are at 9:00 pm.

Conservation District Cost Share Program Announced
The Metcalfe County Conservation District will be accepting requests for cost share funding under the Kentucky Soil Erosion and Water Quality Cost Share and Environmental Stewardship Program beginning September 1, 2010 and extending through September 30, 2010. These programs are administered at the state level by the Soil and Water Conservation Commission and the Kentucky Division of Conservation, located in Frankfort. Applications are ranked statewide and approved for funding based on available funds.

Elementary School Teacher, Mrs. Kenetta (Kenny) Carey, for 2nd grade
student, Hunter Cross. Hunter suffered severe, life-threatening brain
injuries from a dirt bike accident on July 3rd. This account is to take
care of expenses being incurred while Hunter is undergoing critical care
medical treatment at Kosairs Hospital and for future medical treatments
over the next several months. Donations may be made at any South
Central Bank location under the name of 'Mrs. Kenetta Carey for the
Hunter Cross Family'. May God bless you for your kindness and prayers in
this family's time of need!
